In summer, a guided tour enables the curious to discover the fish’s journey, from sea to plate.
The very best way to uncover on the world of fishing…
Firstly we visit Maréis and then head off on foot in groups at the port – a bit like going from theory to practice. Along the way, the guide explains what all the buildings are that stand along the boulevard and that you may not be familiar with: the former Leprêtre and Socarenams shipyards, the careening area, the headquarters of the Étaples seafarers’ cooperative… You will learn a lot about the history of fishing and development of the port.
Having arrived at the fish stalls, you can talk with the fishermen or their wives; see the catch of the day just landed on the quay. And you can use the opportunity to buy their fish and thus favour local fishing and short supply chains.
The little extra: a snack of seafood prepared by the chef of the “Planète Ocean” restaurant.
From sea to plate, a journey in search of authenticity, regionality and taste that, through contact with fishermen, will live up to your expectations.
